You’ve heard us talk about body image, on the regular.
We stand by the whole: you get one kick at this proverbial can, so you should probably not waste time being mean to yourself, pretty strongly. Being women, however, we understand and appreciate that maintaining this attitude on the regular can be somewhat difficult. Hormones fluctuate, the fucking moon shifts and some sort of bullshit tide changes, and just like that – we’re back to being self-deprecating.
It’s with this cosmic certainty in mind, that today’s blog focuses on Boudoir Photography. We wanted to bring up the idea of Boudoir photography specifically because it’s not close to Valentine’s Day and Christmas is a good seven months away. We wanted to talk about Boudoir photography not as a scintillating gift for the person you share a bed with, but as an honest look at yourself, for yourself.
We love boudoir photography not only because it celebrates the magnificence of a woman’s body is, but mostly because of how fantastic it is to watch a woman come to appreciate just how beautiful she is when it’s all said and done. A good boudoir session isn’t about adding things to the equation, like props, gimmicks or costumes; it’s about focusing on, paying homage to and celebrating YOU.
We encourage you to think about signing up for a session as a gift to yourself – a well-executed Boudoir photography session should leave you with an extra bit of pep in your step and irrefutable evidence that you are, in fact, in all of your glory, a babe. Take the opportunity to celebrate who you are today, not who you want to be tomorrow, or ten pounds from now. Make a mental, concerted effort to celebrate yourself as your present self.
Behind the scenes
Boudoir photography is about more than just the photos, of equal importance is the experience. Getting down to your naked in front of a relative stranger can be understandably awkward – being comfortable with the person behind the lens is just as important as being impressed by their body of work. If you fall outside of the Calgary or Saskatoon area, and it’s not possible for Libertee to be the one to take your photos, we strongly encourage you to ask for referrals.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. . . but a well-executed boudoir photo will leave you speechless.
