You’ve heard us talk about statement jewellery before. We love how it has the capacity to make an outfit, to elevate a look and most importantly say a little something about your personality. If the jewellery you’ve heard us talk about before was statement jewellery. . . well then, today’s post is: “shout it from the rooftops at the top of your lungs, I have something to say, jewellery.” And we effing love it.
This is our friend, Kate.
Kate is the founder and designer of our hands-down, favorite jewellery line proudly bearing her name: Kate Hewko. Kate has a wide and far reaching range of experience in the fashion world which began with a Fashion Marketing Diploma from the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto, as well as a BA in Economics from the University of Ontario. Along her journey in the fashion world, Kate enjoyed a number of adventures including: working for high end retail shops, owning her own boutique, starting a family and at various points, managing and producing fashion related events like Alberta Fashion Week and Runway Monthly. No big deal.
Eventually, Kate decided to capitalize on her recurring appreciation for women’s love of beautiful and well-constructed jewellery and dove into the jewellery business.
Kate brought together jewellery designers that she loved and made these pieces available to her customers. Eventually, Kate decided to take the big leap and start her own amazing line of bling and such.
Kate’s unique line of jewellery is a dazzling dichotomy of vintage beauty meeting modern edge, complimented by a surprising and poignant-pause-inspiring placement of various crystals and cool stones. We guarantee you will see every piece and immediately concur you need all of it.
Kate’s respect for the naturally occurring beauty of gems and stones effects an effortlessness and ease to the pieces. The entire line is a breath of fresh air amidst a proverbial Pandora’s box of predictable and pretentiously pretty pieces of jewellery.
Before we let you get any further– some basic principles for rocking statement jewellery:
Big necklaces pair well with low necklines; they not only fill the space, they fill the space with magic!
Big necklaces do not get along with big earrings; literally it will look like you are wearing an argument.
Layering necklaces is awesome, but make sure the necklaces complement instead of compete with one another.
Gold and silver are not exclusive! Feel free to mix and mingle these precious metals and tones associated to them!
