We’re baaack! We appreciate your patience during this blog hiatus, but we’ve been sailing the seven seas, searching for a booty of beauty topics and a treasure trove of fashion fixes. We’re thrilled to be back in the blogging business and are the most grateful you’ve patiently awaited our return! We missed you!
As we do our best to graciously transition into a new, hopefully warmer season (seriously, what the hell, mother nature?!), we thought we’d share one of our favourite fashion fixes that has a knack for perfectly navigating the precarious period that hinges between winter and spring. . . should it ever occur.
The fact that we’re land locked in Alberta and Saskatchewan doesn't take away from our obsession with one of our favourite, endlessly re-created looks - all hail the power of red, white, camel brown and navy!
A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO THE BAMBOO BALLROOM FOR SUPPLYING THE SAILOR INSPIRED LOOKS !
Let’s get NAUTICAL!
This look has bridged land , sea and sky for centuries. Here’s just a few of the reasons we love getting our naut on!
- it’s easily recreated and wildly flattering
- everyone looks good in either red, white or navy - it’s just a matter of playing up the tone that flatters you most, and accenting with the others.
- vertical stripes do only good things
- mentally we’re ready to go to the beach, realistically mother nature might not make this feasible. This is a great way to get beach-y without having your friends look at you with concern.
- It’s ageless - this look can be worn by generations across the board, and has the capacity to sway between cute and classy depending on how it’s accessorized.
Sails up Straight!
We love playing with a vertical stripe on the top and the bottom, however, it’s important to make sure that there is a discrepancy between the width of the stripe. Warning - do not match the stripe on the top and the bottom - unless it’s halloween and you’ve just dressed up as Al Capone.
Anchored on top
We’re not suggesting you wear crocs and shorts when it’s still below zero (or ever for that matter), but when the weather hints at warmer, we love the idea of wearing a heavier shirt on top and a lighter pant on the bottom.
Buoy, it’s in the details.
High waisted jeans are a great way to rock a button up shirt with a tie detail just like any first mate would. Check out the sea faring windows on these jeans . . . Fantastic!
Dressed down dresses
Boat shoes equal casual. High heels equal dressy. Add a camel brown belt. Voila.
How cute is the back of this dress?
If you’re actually voyaging out. . .
We saw these pants and couldn't not let them have their moment in the sun. We love the idea of a light, airy, and quietly sexy plazo pant on vacation. Please remember that we did not for one second suggest that these were professional workplace appropriate.
Set Sail to the BAMBOO BALLROOM!
